Life

The rain has stopped for awhile, still cloudy but hopefully it will clear.  Tons of mud.
Tomorrow I'm going to forget about it and get back to warping my loom.

Towel Exchange

The towel exchange went on today and I had to stay home. I've had a sore throat the last couple of days and I didn't want to chance getting anyone sick. I hope Lisa took some pictures.

I've been crocheting on a Fortune Cookie Bag the last couple days. I'm supposed to be resting so I don't get sicker and my studio is way too cold to weave in right now.  The bag is made using Brown Sheep's Lanaloft and when I finish it, I'll full it.  Designed by Josephine Woo, it's in the newest "Interweave Crochet" Magazine.  I like to crochet as a in between project, knitting just takes too long.

Towel Exchange

The towel exchange is tomorrow and I don't know if I will be able to leave my house. It has rained for 5 days and the road at the bottom of my driveway is washed out.  We shall see.

Taquete Kimono

Things are moving along. I have the AVL warping wheel clicking off warp threads but can only work for short periods as the studio is not heated and it's very cold.  It has been raining for several days, the temperature is dropping, so we have snow on the mountains all the way around us. I hope it stays there and not in my yard.

The warp on my loom is for the Katazome Kimono. I am putting it on hold for awhile and putting the new warp over the top of it.

I love this stand that my husband made for me.  It's stainless steel and has a wide base so it won't tip over, but the arms are close to the ground so I don't trip over them. I can also put more than one swift on it at a time.  I love great tools!

My pile of silk for the project. Eighteen skeins of 60/2 silk, hand-dyed by RedFish DyeWorks, my other business venture.  I have about a quarter of this pile on the loom. I'm happy to be warping again.

2009 Goals

I have been avoiding this but since January is more than half over, it's probably time to address my 2009 Goals and post 2010's.

Katazome Kimono
I did not complete this goal but it is started and will continue to 2010
Taquete
After taking 2 classes from Lillian Whipple, I have decided my plain weave brain does not want to wrap it's self around the Taquete weaving format. Lillian finally took pity on me and wove the collar for me and we will enter it in a competition as a collaboration. She, of course, has her part done, I am still working on my part and will continue to 2010.
Tapestry
Another long drawn out process that will continue to 2010.
Towel exchange
I got this one done - yeah!
Handstand
I haven't nailed a handstand yet but it's getting closer. I can do a shoulder stand and a head stand, I can do a handstand using a doorway for support. I am working on arm strength and loosing weight. The less you have to put up there, the easier it might be. I will continue this in 2010.
Project Convergence 2010
It looks like this one is a pipe dream.  Way too much going on to concentrate on my project. Will change this goal to Convergence 2012 and start now.
Multiple tabby weave
I have dropped this one, after researching, it's not as interesting as I thought.
Diversified plain weave
I got this one, I did my towels for the exchange in diversified plain weave using hemp. I'm very proud, I made dish towels you have to iron.

This year I will have some goals left from last year but I think my new goal will be to weave. Just weave fabric; beautiful, colorful fabric and see what develops.

Life

I have finally escaped! I got caught up in one of life's little mysterious traps but things are getting back to normal. I am finding more and more loom time.
